Semipalmated Sandpiper
The Semipalmated Sandpiper may be tiny, but it’s a mighty migrant, flapping from the Arctic to South America on legs the size of matchsticks. Its name comes from its partially webbed toes—perfect for mudflat life and splashy adventures. Zipping along the shoreline in peeping packs, these little dynamos make the beach feel like a race track.
